Default Which region of Italy do people look the most like standard mainland Greeks?

Since on the other thread people were including islanders, now we don't.

Mainland Greeks. Which region of Italy looks closest in terms of phenotype?

Abruzzo would have been my guess. Or Apulia.

I can't believe people are picking Sicily and Calabria? They look nothing like mainland Greeks. In Calabria they look more like Cypriots.

Why do you think this is the case for Abruzzo? (As you know, my nonna is a good example of this so I'm curious) + plus I'm desperate to find any indirect bits of Greek ancestry lol

I think Abruzzo and Apulia have a more "Balkan" vibe which makes sense a) genetically and b) geographically compared to other Italians.

I don't think you can really comment without visiting all those places, and I haven't.

Genetically though, for mainlanders it couldn't be the very far north or the very far south, but somewhere in the middle. Phenotypically I think it's the same. I think people are getting confused because I only really post islanders.

GEDmatch =/= phenotype. Spanish people have more dark eyes than they 'should' and Ashkenazi people have more light eyes than they 'should.' It's not as simple as ADMIXTURE.
