The fact that both populations speak a romance language and are southern european do not make them cultural and genetic siblings as some try to portray.

We have those, without the fancy clothes! Imo, we share family values, the main religion (catholic), language, in terms of accent spanish and italian closer, vocabulary portuguese and spanish are closer. Temperament , mentality i would risk to say that spanish and italian are closer between them, the portuguese are different. But that's just my opinion...

Aragonese first and Spanish Crown later mastered completely South Italy, included Sardinia, for centuries. The cultural interchange had to be very great.

Iberians tend to plot closer to us, something i would never have imagined without all these autosomal since generally Italians look closer in phenotype which is maybe due to the wider disparity between South and North Italians and we see more of the latter here. Contrary to popular belief i was surprised to find out Spaniards are more "Northern" on average genetically, they have less east med and more WHG which is kind of predictable considering the geography but it clearly confirms it, especially the Basques even if it's really a group on its own. Overall North Italians and Spain is really close in each components.

Nonsense. The Romance character of a country has nothing to do with genetics or a particular array of looks. France is as much of a Romance nation as Italy or Romania are since all those three countries have a Romance language as their mother tongue. Romance as a meta-ethnicity only works as a loose linguistic group as opposed to other Indo-European language families such as Germanic, Slavic, Baltic or Celtic, which are ethno-linguistic groups, that is to say, not only they do tell us about the linguistic affinity of the languages belonging to every aforementioned branch, but also denote shared ancestry and genetics between the native speakers of said akin languages; the latter is not the case for the Romance family.

The only people with a valid claim to be considered "genetically Romance" would be the Italians native to the region of Lazio, birthplace of the Latin language.

It's a bit odd to say that all these other meta-ethnicities share genetics except the Romance meta-ethnicity don't you think. They must share genetics, incluiding the French then at least something, but not Romanians who are paleo-balkanic+Slavic that went under romanization.

Gaul and Hispania were Romanised the same way Dacia/Romania was, albeit the former two regions were under the influence of Rome for a longer time. The ancient languages spoken in the Iberian peninsula prior to the arrival of the Roman legions are not related to Italic languages.
