There are ways of getting rid of excess water, diuretics, although they may be tested for those too, the trainers would be on top of that anyway.

Yes, you don't immediately take roids and puff up, presto, Arnie. That obviously isn't pratical here. They would be taken specifically for this application, even blood doping which isn't actually roids would also give a edge in stamina and recovery.

Haha, yeah, GSP is king of the superman punch. I'm honestly interested in hearing a post-fight interview with Penn, though. For all his talk about GSP supposedly being a "quitter" because of the first Serra fight, BJ's heart was obviously out of the fight by the end of the first round.

Supposedly BJ is filing a complaint with the Nevada State Athletic Commission, accusing GSP of greasing his back, which would make BJ's rubber guard a little hard to do.

Are you serious? That's bloody low even for BJ. Hopefully nothing will come of it. The guy really needs to learn the meaning of the word "honour", all he ever does is make excuses.

I don't know it looked a little shady on the cornerman's part, if it did happen I do not think GSP was even aware. I don't like his weird Arab-looking trainer. I watch the UFC primetime episodes and just couldn't bring myself to like him... Plus him (the arab) and BJ were exchanging a lot of words prior to the fight and I wouldn't put it past that guy to try something...

All respect to GSP, and I don't think it made any difference because GSP was beating BJ everywhere, just a little shady...

Seems I spoke too quickly, then. Just went to mmascraps and saw something posted about it, and apparently Dana has confirmed that one of the commission guys went and knocked the vaseline away from the cornerman between the first and second rounds. Their reasoning as to how it happened does seem a little sketchy, apparently there was some vaseline "left over" on the cornerman's fingers when he was applying it to GSP's eyebrows and immediately after started rubbing GSP's shoulders. Sketchy, indeed, but evidently didn't have an impact on the outcome.

BJ complained about not being able to close his rubber guard. It's hard to close a rubber guard when GSP is crushing your face into the mat.
