Song lyrics were just as blatantly filthy as f* during the 1990s as they are now. This beautiful example (dating back to 1998) could be heard on radio stations and children's parties all over Europe and neither the kids or the old folks somehow never got the references (except, perhaps, for us dirty-minded teenagers for which the song became a guilty pleasure):

This song was written by Liam Weldon about the Eviction of traveller families from a site in Cherry Orchard. The eviction took place in 1959 and inspired Liam to write the song. Liam recorded the song on his album "Dark Horse on the Wind" in 1976. Here, the song is performed by Daoiri Farrell and renowned Uilleann Piper Paddy Keenan at a TPI Conference that took place in Dublin Castle on 20th October 2017. Great singers/musicians, but Van Morrison is from Northern Ireland, UK... and Gary Moore was also from Northern Ireland.

They are still Irish though. Van Morrison even called one of his albums Irish Heartbeat. Gary Moore moved to Dublin and was part of Irish bands like Skid Rowe and Thin Lizzy. Being Northern Irish you can still identify as Irish as many Northern Irish do.
