Which European country has the core European ideals?

depends what you consider core european ideals. nowadays its different than what is traditionally used to be.

traditionally: christianity/greco-roman foundation and white race, patriachalic, maybe king/or caeasar/kaiser/tsar
nowadays: multiculturalism/diversity, gender equality, LGBT rights, secularism, removing religion from institutions and public life and politics

if its the first i think russia has core european ideals, if its the second then probably United Kingdom, Germany, and Sweden

I like the freedom and neutrality of Switzerland. Gun ownership is very high while violent crime is very low. They're not involved in endless wars.

Iceland has very good scores in most categories.

Finland has one of the best education systems on the planet.

Germany is like the national version of the Renaissance Man. Germans excel at everything.

Greece and Italy served as the ancient foundations of modern Europe after civilization spread from Crete.

The United Kingdom and Ireland birthed many of the most important and enjoyable aspects of the United States, from our political philosophy to our popular music.

France is blessed with a rich culture.

Russia gets special mention for maintaining the most admirable qualities of their people while facing seemingly insurmountable odds for much of its history.

Yea, I was hoping that members here could point some of those things out. Generally for me, prosperity of a society is it's ability to expand, defend itself, while still have people in it who are industrious and yet happy. I generally imagine that cultural expressions (like art, music etc, the understanding of emotions at every level) is understood better in such a society.

But I guess the term wasn't defined in my OP mainly because I don't know what Europeans see as their ideals. Certainly, Europe is a big place so maybe what I was asking is a country that is the best in industry, cultural expression, has people who are happy/healthy and also has the best means to defend itself.

Germany is very dependent on NATO for defence, more so than Britain and France, so that gives a bit more money to spend on goodies.
