Default Ozark Avalon, Church of Nature

    http://www.ozarkavalon.net/

Ozark Avalon is a Wiccan church and nature preserve located only three miles off I-70 between Kansas City and St. Louis. We are about 12 miles from Boonville and 18 miles from Columbia, Missouri.

We follow the Wiccan Rede and are open to all beings and spirits of good intent who agree to follow our Natural Laws regardless of path. We offer a free, open worship circle each month, usually at the time of full or new moon, and a schedule of Wheel of the Year and other workshop style events focusing on different spiritual themes. We are open year around for events, workshops and our open year and a day classes. The schedule can be viewed at our website under Calendar on the website menu. Please note that some events are family focused and others are for adults only. Special arrangements may be made for those with a true desire to attend but limited funds.

Our mission is to provide access to nature, a safe place for outdoor worship in an earth-centered, earth honoring spiritual context, to promote community among persons with these beliefs and practices and to further environmentalism and appreciation for nature spirits and the earth.

Our land is located on the bluffs above the Missouri River Valley and offers rugged woods and beautiful high meadows. It is protected and blessed by Gaia and Cernummos, fae folk and spirits of the ancestors. It is home to many species of wildlife as well as a small community of caretakers, priests and priestesses.

There are many beautiful places to camp and hostel style indoor sleeping space. We have modern kitchen and bathroom facilities in our farmhouse retreat center and in the mobile home where our library/classroom is located. We also have Frog bog, our solar assisted shower house and art gallery with compost toilets nearer the main camping areas. We also offer Moon Hollow, a remote, adult only camping area that is clothes optional at all times. Camping during non-event times is $10 for one person or $20 for a car load per night for tenting or $15 per person to sleep in the retreat center. $25 for a whole room if available. OakSpirits camp for $4 per person or $8 a carload for tent camping and can stay inside for $10 a night. Firewood may be gathered on site or purchased.

Our group is open to membership based on participation and adherence to our Natural Laws of Governance. Minimum requirements are attendance and participation for 13 occasions over a year and a day in all four seasons. We currently have around 120 members of all ages. Our land and church is governed by a seven member Board of directors. In addition to our mission of providing access to land we serve the community by participating in the Columbia Earth Day Coalition, the Columbia Area Interfaith Alliance, the Pagan Educational Network and Hearthfires of Mid-Missouri.
