The only problem is that "the devil" was ruling the Ottoman empire at the time. It would be easy for us to say that the Greek invasion of Turkey was not our mistake because the party which ordered the invasion was elected on the promise of ending the war, not extending it, or that the attempt to overthrow Makarios was not our fault because the dictator who ordered it was not elected by the Greek people, but those would be pathetic excuses.
