I think roughly the opposite; the brain is a result of evolution and adaptation to aid our survival and we can survive very well without understanding the complete workings of the universe, so what we have figured out is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

Regarding reality, think about when you dream: things happen which surprise you and you interact with characters without questioning their reality, but when you wake up and have a change of consciousness you realize that it was all coming from your own imagination. Perhaps when we 'die' we have a similar change of consciousness and realize that life was some kind of illusion - quite possible in my opinion.

That's a very interesting take. I kind of take dreams as mental abstractions that tell me things overtly that my conscience and circumstances have only been hinting at. They can be beautiful, wondrous images of breathtaking beauty, or they can conjure images so horrifying you believe your heart is going to stop.

Dreams are interesting things. Sometimes, dreams give cohesion to disparate events in our lives and provide us with insight. Life itself is an interesting thing that we as humans have been trying to figure out since we've acquired sentience. In many ways, we're just trying to struggle in the Savage Garden we call life from day to day. Reality. We try to harmonize the complexities and interconnectedness of life by giving it some sort of subjective cohesion and even so, there are too many exceptions to the rules we lay down to be really comfortable with it. Could it be possible that there are some things that are so evolved, so advanced that we can't really hope to understand it in the brief time allotted to us?

There's really no way for us to know. Such questions should really only be pursued by men with labs, educations, and a ton of grant money at their disposal.

Our guesses at such subjects are just a waste of time.

Why not? It might well be a waste of time, but what time that can provide some kind of insight is ever wasted?

So the only thing we can know for certain is that we don't know and we just plug away doing the best we can with the knowledge we have? That actually makes sense.

Yes, true. I'm certainly not claiming to be one of those people, but I do think we all try to claw our way up from where we were before in trying to grasp our own piece of it. For example, I know that life and death are interconnected. The living feed on the dead, even if only the part that decays into soil from which things grow. That's a very obvious reality. Some of us are only able to see the surface.

That kind of comprehension would itself go beyond any reality we are familiar with now. That's almost " super- sentience."
