I decided to start a little project and that is to give Skopje some more exposure on the street level. It started out smoothly but got rocky later on due to the mugging attempt but ended nicely (although I didn't get to picture the river up close because of the mugging attempt but I intend to do that later plus the presidential palace and a plethora others that I intend to cover in the coming months).
In the picture above you can see the contrast between old, dilapidated buildings from the Socialist period to the modern buildings (although with wacky colors) from today.
Nice hummer in the background!
I totally wish I owned that white sedan on the right!
One of the bigger roads in Skopje
Some of the more modern buildings
A picture of the river taken on the stone bridge.
The picture above is the entrance of the city park and you can see the Skopje City Stadium in the background.
The Skopje City Stadium (although officially renamed to Philip II Stadium...)
I think this building is supposed to be the new courthouse or something.
A view of the river from the new courthouse.
I think one of the new buildings is supposed to be the new national theatre or something.
Macedonia Square. Do you see the cordon in the middle? That's where a new statue of Alexander II will be placed. It's rumored that he will be 8-storey tall and a bunch of statues will surround him... You can also see the Millennium Cross in the background (it is the largest cross in the world), and statues of Gruev (on the left), Delchev (on the right) and Cento (right of that large palace in the middle).
