This is right but it depends for who. There is a population as described in the OP, even in taxonomy threads some Anatolians thumbs up when the person from Turkey is said to pass as Greek.

My dad was often mistaken as a tourist in our vacations, German, Dutch, British etc.

There are loads of European-looking blonde Turks to be atypical, but he's extremely atypical (he's almost identical to Kevin Bacon, go figure, I'm sure he would be considered atypical in south europe as well)

They expressed their will to take Constantinople, not to be racially Hellen people. Here it's a European culture forum so Greeks want emphasising their common points with Europeans and when people from outside more south or East stick they are annoyed, this can be understood but all Turks arent like this. Sticking to Greeks, desiring to be Greeks like is just a ideological feature of a minority. All Turks arent like that.
