Maltheism/ Misotheism

Here's a new idea I have come across in my travels: the idea that God or the gods constitutes an entity or entities hostile to humanity and therefore regarded as the enemy of mankind, rather than its benefactor. http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Maltheism , http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/God_(Maltheism) , http://community.beliefnet.com/go/fo...9849/Maltheism So, what's your take on this?

Some Gods are indeed evil or at the very least cruel even if they like to disguise it, most notable the Demiurge

If one chose to separate God from the universe, I guess I could see that. I know that there are works of literature that present Higher Powers as separate forms with super- humanized foibles that would get ordinary humans executed as criminals..

Misotheism is the acknowledgement that there are gods, but thinking them incompetent or otherwise hating them. Similar to Maltheism, which is the belief that the gods are evil. Both atheists and theists instinctively know about it. But they would rather just believe there's nothing there or that the horrors beyond the veil are actually cosmic babysitters than have their minds fall prey to the crawling insanity that lurks at every corner of this universe.

The Norse actually had a term, "godless" which denoted that although you accepted that the gods existed, you didn't think they should be worshipped. Just because gods exist doesn't mean a person is going to worship them. Belief and faith are two different things.
