Estonia man pleads guilty in NYC to cyberfraud charges related to millions of computers

NEW YORK – A man portrayed as a ringleader in an international cyber scam has pleaded guilty.

Vladimir Tsastsin (TSAHS'-tsihn), an Estonian citizen, entered the plea Wednesday in Manhattan federal court.

The plea came in a scheme that authorities said infected more than 4 million computers in over 100 countries with software that disabled anti-virus protections and steered users to websites they did not choose. Sentencing was set for Oct. 14.

Prosecutors say more than a half-million computers were infected in the United States. They included computers belonging to government agencies including NASA. Prosecutors say infected computers also belonged to educational

institutions, nonprofit organizations, commercial businesses and individuals.

They said Tsastsin and co-conspirators profited by receiving payments due to higher Internet traffic after they digitally hijacked Internet searches and re-routed computers to certain websites and advertisements.

On the plus side,Estonians rarely get any hate or trolling. Can't wait to visit tho. Was hoping for this August but it's going to be impossible due to work. Perhaps September..is there any good weather left then?

My mother saw a fake pop up that she won 10,000 dollars,and she called me for it,then I had to explain to her for 20 minutes its a fake.

I remember Estonia getting a LOT of hate. But there arent many of us around here any more so I suppose those Russkie lovers and co have calmed down.
Im not living in Estonia atm but Ive heard the summer has been very cold Mostly jacket weather. Not sure what the winter will be like but Ill recommend going in December when theres the Christmas market in the old town square Or June/July for the white nights experience

The man has a Russian name , which is not to say he does not have Estonian ancestors. Estonians have mixed with the Russians a lot. So can be partially Estonian, until it's proven otherwise.
