In northern Illinois, the temperatures were warmer today than they've been in some time, reaching about 15 degrees F. It's been much colder lately, and the snowpack has been on the ground for well over twenty days without any significant thawing. Makes me dream of spring, it does . . .

It's currently about 25F with a thin dusting of snow outside. It's suppose to snow tonight & tommorow, maybe 2-3 inches. We've only had about 1.5 inches so far this winter. But the ice on my pond is about 4 -5 inches thick. I live south of the snowbelt but north of the sunbelt. Everything turns brown & dies in the winter time & there is no blanket of white snow to cover it up.
It snowed this morning. Crisp and chilly with no wind, pale white sky. Supposed to snow tonight and freezing rain tomorrow.
I'm like Æmeric though, mostly everything just looks brown and dead. Very black metal.

Oooooo that's like parts of southern and southwestern Ontario...bleak and desolate and nary any snow to be had. This I would not like however. I'll keep my little Nordic paradise thanks. But I'll always be willing to share my snow with you Æmeric; I'll send you truck loads if you want!
Cheers!...Aemma

Today it's clear, sunny and colder than a witch's tit. I don't know the temperature now, but it was in the low 30s a couple of hours ago when I was driving home from work.

We had a couple of inches of snow overnight. And freezing rain today. The roads are just lovely. More sleet & snow tonight. What with the freezing rain mixing with the snow everything is covered in a sheet of white ice.
