In the south, it's usually grey, rainy, and foggy, with short dark days and long nights, but not freezing point in Autumn.... those types of freezing temperatures usually comes around mid-winter time.

Mind you, London is further 'north' to where I grew up as there's even palm trees in my original hometown along the south-west coast:
