Cigarettes are evil.
I don't see a purpose in smoking that. I've tried once, it's not enjoyable for me, it's unhealthy and can addict. To sum it up - only disadvantages.
But of course everyone has free choice. I'm not going to act as someone's parent or catechist.

Here's the SNPedia entry about the marker that exists in people of European ancestry which makes them more prone to nicotine addiction.

Some people actually say this is the Native Americans' revenge for us introducting them to alcohol, which they are more genetically prone to becoming addicted to.
So smokes = Montezuma's revenge???

I tried smoking... didn't like it. Cigarettes give me a headache. I hated inhaling those things too, it didn't feel healthy.

Using tobacco, delicious and aromatic though it may be, in this day and age is rather like closing one's eyes when crossing a busy street.

SNAP, I will do occasionally (like once or twice a year) when drunk and out with certain mates, but I always wake up with a mouth that feels like a hampsters nest, and clothes that stink. never feel the need for another, but then most "drugs" have little effect on me so maybe that's why.

Not for the past 34 years. I quit "cold turkey:" in 1976. Despite having smoked since 1948: pipe, then cigars also after 1953, then cigarettes after 1968, I was not addicted. I experienced no problem with withdrawal, only a wistful longing for good cigars which was only regret, not craving.

Smoked 3 packs a day of Marlboro "Red Box." Quit at about age 40; just didn't want to anymore. I think I still light up maybe once or twice a year, not often enough to be occasional
Other folks around me smoke, their choice to do so, my choice to stick around or leave.
