It's funny because, there is a gun enthusiast in America called James Yeager.

If you look up the surname Yeager/Yager/Jager on FTdna, a fair few come under the archaic haplogroup R1*, before the split occured.

Maybe it's the beard but it seems he has this kindof blue-eyed steppe vibe going on.

After 2k generations (and I guess probably more than this in reality) you can't judge too much by looks or location any more. You can also slide back and forth on mutations endlessly if they are not selected on.

They both have some quality of "white mongols" though

Since I have the huge cranial index and very thick stubby legs maybe I am a white mongol, too. Though I am a more giant versian than the kipchak they interviewed.

But it's very interesting, and I suspect the original range of r1* was all of siberia and r1b is r1* that moved to siberia in solutrean times.
