Castro is galician but you can find it in neighbouring territories (Asturias) and also in the rest of Spain by galician inmigration. Silva, Miranda and Campos are found everywhere in Spain. I woud say that they are also castilian surnames not only a galician surname. Campos in my opinion is more castilian than portuguese or galician.

Si corrompes un apellido y lo escribes de manera incorrecta, es normal que 99,93% de los que tengan ese apellido incorrectamente escrito sean mexicanos porque los únicos que lo escriben así son los mexicanos. El apellido correcto es Echegaray, y es imposible que el 99% de los Echegaray sean mexicanos.

Y muchos están en el País Vasco porque es un apellido vasco. Gurrola se formó porque algún genio que trabajaba en el registro le quitó la E allá en Mexico al Egurrola original, y de ahí salen los Gurrolas.

Conocí a un Argentino con DNI español que tenía el segundo apellido vasco y uno primero rarísimo que sonaba a italiano, y me contó que el primero también era vasco, y que sus abuelos eran vascos, pero que el analfabeto que estaba registrando a los que llegaban a Argentina, corrompió totalmente el apellido de su abuelo, y desde entonces en Argentina quedó registrado oficialmente que tenían ese apellido, y pasó a sus descendientes, que cuando volvieron a España, y adquirieron de nuevo la nacionalidad española, resulta que tuvieron que seguir ostentando ese apellido corrompido y falso también en el DNI español. Su familia llevaba años peleando en Argentina para que corrigieran el apellido, y el mismo lo estaba intentando en España. Se le veía bastante jodido por ello.
