But Bulgarians don't look as proto-Bulgars . Maybe some people in Chuvashia, Tatarstan (formerly Volga Bulgaria) but not modern day Bulgaria.
That's right, except that your own people are not Bulgars. They were nomadic Turkic speakers from the steppes.
