Bulgarians: Slavs or not ?

I saw Bulgarians as Thracians and Slavs like I see Spaniards as Celtiberians and Latins.

Both countries also received very important cultural contributions from other groups though in the spanish case it didn't add (much) to the genepool , not sure about Bulgaria,I am unaware of their genetic make-up.

By the way, I m yet to see a mongol looking Bulgarian and I was born in Northeastern Bulgaria very near Pliska and Preslav! Sometimes I wonder how sane ppl or ppl with any knowledge of Bulgaria could believe such crap!!!

Culturally? Yes, we were the first civilized Slavic nation.

Genetically? We're a mix of Russians and Greeks and some Anatolians plus Turks.

The Bulgarian nation, however, is weak and pathetic today. At least the Germans are doing better despite some Germans in Austria fantasizing about an Austrian ethnicity.

It doesn't because the Balkans will become New Syria soon. We'll have to move to either Russia or America.

They do exist. Bulgarians/Macedonians with Mongol-like appearance can be found, but they're far and few. It's more likely that they're a result of Ottoman Turks mixing with Bulgarians than from proto-Bulgars anyway.
