What I noticed is that Spaniards tend to complain all the time, even claiming that they are not a first world country, but my impression of Spain (mainly Catalonia, Madrid and the Basque Country) is that the country is highly developed.
Well nobody claims here we are not First World. It is true that we complain about ourselves in many ways and that many times you can heard people say "hey in Germany or Sweden they have this or that, or they have achieved this or that". We are our biggest critics by far.

There is a famous Spanish proverb that says: If someone speaks bad about Spain, he is Spanish

Irizar will manufacture 43 electric buses for the French city of Amiens

It will be the largest contract in Europe for the supply of this type of articulated electric vehicles, 18 meters, BRT system and zero emissions.

The Basque company Irizar has been awarded the construction of 43 100% electric buses for the French city of Amiens, which will be built next year in the new plant that the company has in Aduna (Gipuzkoa) which since last year has been operating at full capacity .

The contract signed by Irizar e-mobility contemplates the supply of 43 units of the articulated bus, of 18 meters, model Irizar ie tram, the company group has informed in a press release.

Amiens Metropole has relied on the Gipuzkoan firm for the implementation of its BRT system in three of its lines.

This has made it possible for Irizar e-mobility to subscribe its largest contract in Europe for the supply of this type of articulated electric vehicles of 18 meters, BRT system, zero emissions.

The same source has indicated that, with this new order, the existing portfolio of this model rises to 69 units. Irizar will also provide the necessary infrastructures for the correct operation of the vehicles.

This bus model, with tram aesthetic attributes, is a vehicle product of the Irizar Group technology both in electronics and communications and in the main systems such as batteries and charging alternatives.

The same source has specified that it is a technology tested in Irizar’s laboratories and test benches as well as in the vehicle itself.

First Full-Scale Hyperloop Passenger Capsule Unveiled in Spain

The world’s first full-scale Hyperloop capsule that has the potential to carry passengers at speeds of 700mph, has been unveiled in Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain.

The slick 105-foot long model called Quintero One, was revealed by Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HyperloopTT) at its facilities in Spain.

Quintero One is built almost completely out of HyperloopTT’s Vibranium, a specially made dual-layer smart composite material. It was built at the Southern Spain aerospace facilities of HyperloopTT’s partner Airtificial, a new company formed by the merger of composite expert Carbures and engineering company Inypsa that manufactures for many leading companies including Airbus and Boeing.

The company said passengers should see the hyperloop as an “airplane without wings”. It weighs 5 tonnes and can hold 30 to 40 passengers at a time. The exterior is made up of carbon fiber composites that Hyperloop TT claims will protect passengers if anything hits the capsule’s exterior.

The design for the capsule was created in collaboration with world renowned transport design consultancy PriestmanGoode and won the Gold award at the 2017 London Design Awards.

Quintero One measures 32 metres and weighs 5 tons. It has 72 sensors and will be delivered to HyperloopTT’s research and development centre in Toulouse, France for additional assembly and integration into the system, before it is used on one of the first commercial tracks, according to the company.

The idea for the transport system originated from Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk after he was stuck in traffic on the way to a technology conference in 2012. He then released the idea publicly, allowing businesses to attempt to build the technology.

“Working together with engineers from HyperloopTT, we are proud to be pushing the envelope of smart materials in transportation and manufacturing,” said Airtificial Co-Founder and Chairman, Rafael Contreras.“Today we have unveiled a new type of transportation vessel built with an industry high percentage of composite, which makes the Hyperloop capsule perhaps the safest transportation vehicle in the world.”
