At least eight people have been killed and scores wounded in an explosion at a wedding ceremony in Turkey's southeastern province of Gaziantep, according security sources talking to Reuters news agency.
Eight people are feared to have died and 60 injured after a bomb ripped through a wedding party at the Turkish city of Gaziantep.
Ali Yerlikaya, the local governor, told Anadolu Agency the “terror attack” took place in Akdere neighborhood of Sahinbey district.
The explosion took place in the hall which was attended by a large number of people. Ambulances rushed to the scene and the Turkish Red Crescent put out an urgent appeal for blood.
Turkish MP Mehmet Erdogan told CNN-Turk broadcaster: "There are people who lost their lives and we have initial information suggesting it was a bomb attack. We don't know numbers of injured."
Pictures and videos on social media displayed horrific scenes of the dead and injured.
It was unclear who was was responsible for the bombing, with speculation suggesting the it could have been the work of Kurdish militants or the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
The city, which has a population of just over 1.5 million, is in the Anatolia region of Turkey, and just over 60 miles north of the Syrian city of Aleppo.
