I have few theories, I'll say about it below.
That is one of options. Quite possible one.
I am not sure if it is really that much important for us. You know, it is not healthy to care too much about what someone thinks about you. I've just posted this thread because I remember few posts from here telling the otherwise, and I like statistics. No matter if being correct or not, there is always something to debate about.
I'd rather say it is crazy way of thinking from Polish ambassador's side.
But back to the reasons, why Poles like Czechs, I think it has something to do with our other neighbours. Germans - wars and occupation. Russians - wars and occupation, some genocides too. Lithuanians - strange policy toward Polish minority, they have some weird issues with us. Belarusians - this is quite surprising one, because they are really fine but quite disliked according to Polish public opinion research centre; maybe Poles tend to identify them with Russians. Ukrainians - war, massacre of civilians, glorification of war criminals. Who's left? Czechs and Slovaks. What kind of problems we had with each other? Except some conflicts on the border in times when everyone was in war with everyone, none.
I am surprised however, that Czechs are on the first place regarding most liked nations by Poles. I understand Czechs might be high, but on first place? THAT high?
The other case might be the childhood. Probably everyone here have watched Rumcajs, Krecik and other cartoons made in Czechoslovakia, so basically people here have no bad experiences with Czechs, at the same time having some good ones.
Also, possibly being together in Visegrad Group helps here too.
Just my opinions.
