Default A question about Germanic tribes in France

when the Germanic tribes(Visigoths,Franks,Burgundians...) invaded France, they were a Elite minority or they were numerous and mixed with the Celtic Gauls?

Elite minority imo since they adopted their language and customs. Same with the Swebi germanics in Portugal, Visigoths in spain, lombards, turkic bulgars in Bulgaria, Norman vikings in northern France. The Angles and Saxons were an Elite minority but they cucked Brits which is why they speak Germanic.

Only 200,000 Franks invaded, so i think it's just a minority.
The base of the France is Celtic, the Roman invasion is similar, very few troops of occupation by the Gauls this report.
Just as the Roman troops of occupation were Celtic / Celtic tribes having sworn allegiance to the majority of them.

The map is a bit wrong. Brabantian is not Flemish (dialects spoken in West Flanders, East Flanders, French Flanders in the past and Zeelandic Flanders) and we call our language Dutch because it is Dutch and not a separate language. We're no Afrikaners. We like speaking Dutch.[/triggered]

This is about France, though. Well, the Franks south of the Romance-Germanic linguistic border eventually became Romanised by the Gallo-Roman majority population (who also had a pretty civilised elite too prior to the Franks taken over). France and French are called such because the Kingdom of the Franks lasted centuries, but the majority language remained Vulgar Latin which would become the langue d'oïl which later would become French.
North of that linguistic border Germanic language was already spoken and it just became 'Franconianised'.
My native language (Dutch) basically is Low Frankish. Salian Low Frankish to be precise, as in Limburg they speak Rhine Frankish which is quite different.
In the North East of the Netherlands people speak Saxon dialects, though (the Saxons being a tribe that resisted Christianisation along with the Frisians), which are very distinct to this day and a language in its right (but they tend to identify as Dutchmen and speak Standard tongue perfectly, far more than many country bumpkins who actually speak a Frankish dialect ).

Well, I'm no historian, but I know the Frankish elite did speak their own language for many generations. However, I'm not entirely convinced the elite switched to Germanic. Gallo-Romans were pretty civilised before the Franks and this is why only a small population spoke Germanic with those same Germanic-speakers speaking Latin as a secondary language to boot. Or am I wrong? Always assumed it to have went like that. Latin remained a prestige language even under the Franks basically.
