    I know eating collagen (a type of animal protein) is good for the skin. I am not sure about these pastes that people put on their faces.

    Yes, generally they strip the skin of its natural oils and disruptes the skin biome. Have you ever noticed that beggars on the street who live in cardboard boxes never have bad skin? They always have v clear skin. There's a reason for that.
