Balkan people have the largest identity crisis cause they are severely mixed.

We align ourselves differently, not background.

Orthodox people go with Orthodoxes, Cathoclis with Catholics, Muslims with Muslims even if we are all cousins to each other.

I identify me as Iberian (Portuguese) honestly.Brazil is a mixed of cultures and ethnies, and where I live the azorean imigration (by the fact that they stay isolate for a long period) leaved a lot of heritage. When this immigrants come to Brazil, no exist pratically anyone here in South of Brazil. So, they dont mixed with others people like in others Brazil regions.I dont give a fuck to my german and native heritage because I never get contact with them, even my Grandma speaking german.

I dont really identify based on race. But more what ethnicity or heritage someone is or has. But it doesnt mean everything. Ideas and personel values weight more in person.

I'm a proud European-American of recent immigrant roots (father immigrated to America) and close connections to my ancestral lands. I identify most with my paternal side, which is South German (Swabian) and Castilian. So I identify both as "South German" and "Spanish" foremost. I especially connected with it after travels back to my ethnic regions. Percentage-wise, I'm more Germanic but appearance-wise I was more influenced by my Iberian side. And I see no conflict in the two, because we're all kindred and connected European peoples.

My dad is Greek, my grandparents are from small mountain villages in the Arcadia region of the Pelopennese. My mum is Indian, a Christian Malayali from the Kerala region of India. I identify with both cultures to a degree, but ultimately I don't think either side of a mixed race person can ever fully accept them. Simply acknowledging I am different, which can't be helped, essentially reinforces than I am a essentially an out-group individual to them. I don't feel that either ethnic group intentionally tries to make me an outcast, it's just that ultimately people's first perception of most mixed people is they are from a different community than theirs. Growing up I was very much raised much more Greek as I pretty much grew up in my Papou's and Yiayia's home, as I have gotten older I have explored my Indian side more. I travelled to Greece and all throughout India, neither places do I really fit in which is why I am glad I live in a multiracial society, though I don't exactly support huge racial demographic changes in populations lol

That being said, I first and foremost consider myself an Australian of mixed ancestry, I am 3rd generation Aussie on my dad's side and 2nd generation on my mum's. I also made a post about my ancestry and if I should even call myself mixed race https://www.theapricity.com/forum/sh...ify-my-parents

I am an American but I find it difficult to identify strongly as an American for a variety of reasons, from the fact that American values largely are not my own (Protestant, Republican heritage and I prefer both Catholicism and monarchy) and also due to the fact that I don't see African-Americans, Korean-Americans, or say Italian and Russian Americans as part of my people. From a tribal or ethnic perspective, I see other British Isles derived peoples (Brits, Irish, Canadians, Aussies, New Zealanders, etc.) as closer to me than the aforementioned groups. Another problem with American identity for me is I am a Traditionalist and anti-modern, and America is a thoroughly modern nation.

I can however appreciate early American pioneers and their struggles in building a new nation, etc. but then my ancestors came to New Jersey after the initial settling period.

In terms of ethnic identity, I go by the old way, namely surname and paternal lineage. My father's family came from Scotland, hence I am a Scot abroad. That my mother is predominately Gaelic Irish heritage adds to a sense of identification with various Scoto-Irish groups of history (Scottish, Irish, Scots-Irish, and historic peoples such as the Norse-Gaels, Galwegians, etc.)

In sum it would go in descending order something like:

    1) Scottish
    2) Gaels (and general Insular Celts)
    3) British Isles generally
    4) Northwest Euro/Celto-Germanic
    5) Western European
    6) European/white man
