To people of mixed ethnicity or mixed race, how do you identify?

Six out of my eight great grandparents were born in Spain, so I identify strongest with that on ancestral basis and have even lived in Spain in the past because I have citizenship from my Gallego dad. Although because I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, on a cultural level I just feel Boricua...

With my nationality, my surname is quite common, and specially with my father's side, tho my mother have big influence too (my parents are of different regions).

My ancestry is just a party "trick", hey I'm descendant of this and that, two of my 2nd-greatgrandfathers fought in WWI, bla blah blah

I identify only as a Croat because my both parents are already Croats and admixture from other ethnic groups I have is way too distant and feels very foreign to me.
Regionally speaking I have split identity and live in limbo between two (or three) worlds, truly belonging to none.

My heritage is predominately from Dalmatian Islands and this is where I feel home the most and this is place I'm very emotionally attached too but I didn't grow up there and many things about Dalmatian culture annoy me and I can't relate with them. On the other hand there is a north Adriatic city I grew up in, very urban, gritty, liberal and industrial area and it's a place I never felt as home and had cold emotions towards.

But I realize my mentality is greatly influenced by that city and that in many ways I'm exactly product of it.

There is a third place in central Croatia I spend part of my childhood in, city of my father and that is another place I feel very strong emotions towards, always romanticized it and felt longing for it because we couldn't live there permanently. However when I go there, I feel both nostalgic and foreign.

We are product of our surroundings and can't escape that, ancestry is secondary. So I'm a Croat from biggest Croatian Port and that is that.

I dont know actually anymore. Growing up I felt strongly serb, but not anymore, because in Serbia I would be not a serb, and when Im there Im a minority, in austria most serbs were never my friends, nor was i in cultural clubs or serb schools or orthodox schools or had serb friends. Serbs in austria organise serb culture, and they all know eatch other and are connected, i was always outside that world, i had a few austrian friends but was never their equal, i was the foreigner in the group. I never had gypsie friends, only as small kid in serbia a few, but also vojvodina hungarian friends. But I was not long in serbia. I think Id go with what I am, because people say you are what you are born as, so I guess I am what Im born as. You know my percentages. I posted them often, ethnically, genetically etc.
