We are protected by two massive oceans and two massive and militarily inept nations. Russia's western border is lined up with US allies. Not to mention Turkey in the south.
I'm not military strategist,but it would be harder for them to do so. The man way they would be able to damage us is to attack US bases or cause a large number of US losses by repelling a direct homeland invasion.
