Look, i'm definately not saying that Iron age & Bronze age Scandinavians were technically more "advanced" than the Romans or Ancient greeks nor am i trying to belittle modern day Greek and Italian peoples ancestors in any way. It just annoys me that so many people on this forum have this belief that Northern europeans were living in "mud huts" and were completely uncivilised until Romans/Greeks came into the picture when this clearly wasn't the case!

Very good point. The artwork seems very advanced to me. Where is in the world did you get this sort of advancement at 1,000BC?

There is a big difference between "tanned" and "swarthy". Tan is something that Southerners who spent lots of time under the sun get naturally over time, while swarthiness is something that you are born with, something genetic. Don't know about the others, but I can usually tell the difference between a tanned and a naturally swarthy person quite easily.

Swarthy isn't an insult, but a compliment in my book. The lily-white North Europeans every day try to tan and become swarthy like South Europeans. And, swarthy women are by far the most wonderful.

The lass on the left or the right over the one in the middle, every time.

I believe the first IE speakers (those who brought the Proto-germanic language to Scandinavia) played a large role in that, establishing a lot of trade routes with Central europe.
