People are pretty stupid. I was asked once if I was Russian by a nurse. You know my surname, dummy. Does that look Russian to you? I didn't say that to her.

I should say we were asked if we were Russian. I was with my father. My father is Gallop's wet dream. German immigrants think he looks like them. My father looks like he should be on a Nazi SS propaganda poster. I can understand if she thought my father was Russian just by looking at him, but our names aren't remotely Russian looking.

If not, you have only been mistaken for a Russian. Then from logics Russian is not just the lightest but also the darkest that you have been mistaken for.

Are Welsh people considered lighter than Maltese, half-German/half-Indian or Turkish?
A Welshman asked if I was Welsh, though I think that was mostly due to the remnants of my soft Cheshire accent. That's the strangest/most-reach-y guess anyone's thrown my way.

At school/work, I used to get the usual jokes about having an English father (one old teacher told me I've got his fat nose to look forward to in old age - can't remember how that conversation began!)... but that's English people with anyone tanned, I guess.

Mostly, I get Iranian's assuming I'm Iranian, Pakistanis wondering if I'm Pakistani and Turks TELLING ME that I'm Turkish. And Bangladeshis telling me I'm NOT Bangladeshi.

I'm only mistaken for Greek and Latino but according to my non-Turkish friends I look like I'm from Colombia, Serbia, and Macedonia so I think it would be;
