American pizza vs italian pizza?

I've wanted to know that the difference is from people who have both or from Italians. Pizza is one of my favorite dishes, and so is pasta. Here is the American pizza I'm eating right now:

The pizza of the pic on OP is exactly the same kind of pizza I can find over here in Spain.

I'd rather eat a simple sandwich of salami with cheese than eat a pizza.
