The two governments are good friends. But I feel that the friendships is limited to the headstates.
For exemple, I find the number of 20 000 chineses students in Russia, while in the same time they are 92 000 in United Kingdom.
Like I mentioned before in this thread, the feelings and familiarity towards Russia vary greatly depending on the region. But generally varies from indifference to friendliness.

Of course more Chinese study in the US, despite intense rivalry, China and the US actually have the world's largest economic relationship, and American colleges offer tremendous educational opportunities and prestige that are unrivaled. Obviously, it would be a no brainer for an ambitious Chinese student to want to gain an education in the US.

The US is probably the most highly respected country in China, even if there are some antagonistic feelings because of politics. It's the only country that Chinese people recognize as clearly above it, and they feel a great need to learn from the US.

Russian words that chinese people are ashamed of.
The word 'tipa' that means like.
But chinese people understand it differently, they are ashamed of it.

The word 'poka, poka' that means good bye, but chinese people are laughing when they hear it.
It is a japanese word, but all in China understand it, it have reference to the fools.

I can say that in Russia everyone understand differently all words that pronounced as hui.
It seems that in mandarin it has thousand meanings, as well in russian it has too.

Very nice videos. I think also Chinese are laughing because poka poka sounds 'cute'. Chinese do repeat syllables as a sign of endearment. Most nicknames, especially for girls are structured this way.

I wonder, can they speak both languages simultaneously? I thought it should be complicated.

I have some guesses about it.
I guess that every person in China is bilingual, knowing at least two dialects. It is one particular dialect of their province and the beijing dialect which is canonical. Every province has its own dialect with unique pronunciation and vocabulary. Most widespread dialects are Mandarin (Beijing dialect), Wu (Shanghainese), Min (Hokkien), and Yue (Cantonese). For instance, in eastern China each city may have unique dialect. Every person should know one dialect that he studied in his particular city during childhood and the beijing dialect that he studied in school.

So I guess only natives of Guangzhou who live in that city from the beginning should know both cantonese and mandarin as they study it during their youth.
But residents from northern provinces know only mandarin as they never studied cantonese before. This is why Shenzhen is mandarin speaking city because it inhabited by migrants from the north.

    Are my clues correct?

    .
Yes, you are quite right. But nowadays, regional dialects are becoming forgotten and some are even classified as 'endanger of extinction'. Imagine that. Those Chinese in Guangzhou might be more northern immigrants since it is one of the cities that does attract a lot of migrants. However, especially for the younger generation, it could be people that have simply forgotten their regional dialect. I have a friend who is Shenzhen local but she can't speak any Cantonese. Think of it as how some American born Chinese can't speak any Chinese

To be fair, UK is a top destination for many university students. Their universities have some of the best reputations in the whole world and many people have heard of Oxford and Cambridge.

About as universal as us Chinese all having buck teeth and small eyes
Nevertheless, a stereotype is still a stereotype. English roses can be extremely elegant and beautiful.

I like the small yet strong stereotype

I'm just imagining an inappropriately funny scenario where someone makes the stereotypical small asian cock joke to an immigrant. In heavily accented English, the asian retorts "small yet strong!"
