New world. Brits move here and it's another day in little Britain (but bigger, cleaner, fresher, warmer with more game and fish. Suckers).

Nine out of ten concerns are completely unfounded.

Anglosphere. I work with some Englishmen and the humour, culture, temperament etc are all very similar to Aussies. Many Aussies travel to the UK and work there for years and feel right at home, except for the weather of course. Likewise many Brits and Irish do the same in Australia. One big happy family really. I hope with Brexit, the Angloshere gets even closer.

Closer to Australia and NZ but I'm not sure we are culturally closer to the USA than Germany. Half way inbetween probably. Canada we don't see much about so I don't know about there.

My geography professor said Brits refer to the Atlantic as "The Pond",mostly due to a feeling of being closer with Americans than Europe. A tendency,he said, was best shown by the recent Brexit vote. I like the idea.

English speaking world, except for the US. The US is even less English culturally than the Anglo Caribbean is.

I'd say there are more cultural similarities with other parts of the Anglosphere than with America. We have the same heritage, but Americans have different values and sense of humor. We prefer slapstick and cruder jokes whereas they prefer subtle wordplay and other bullshit.

+1 Agreed. I feel culturally closer to Aussies and Kiwis on the other side of the planet than to most continental Europeans, due to sharing the same language, driving on the same side of the road, sharing the same Queen and head of state, having a similar Houses of Parliament, plus they like cricket and English sports in Australia and NZ, have a similar sense of humour, etc.

After Australia and NZ, I would say Canada (they are also a Commonwealth Nation and share the same Queen and a similar Houses of Parliament, Royal Militaries, etc,) and then the US (the UK & US founded NATO and the UN together, and both are G8 nations, and first allies to each other in wars.)

Also our neighbour island of Ireland speaks the same language, drives on the same side of the road, and the Irish are anti-EU too as the people in the Republic of Eire voted NO to the Lisbon Treaty and the signing-away of their country to the EU control several years ago... but their vote was totally disrespected and rejected by the EU and the Eurocratic dictators (who always preach about the EU being 'democratic' - !) who have no respect for peoples democratic vote and the foreign Eurocrats forced the Irish people to have a revote until they oh-so-suddenly changed their initial vote to 'yes' - which looks like a stitch! (Why even have a vote on it in the first place if peoples votes are rejected if the dictators don't like their democratic vote?)

Also South Africans are culturally similar too.

With that said, I also find cultural similarities with other Europeans too, but I find even more similarities with people in the Anglosphere cultured nations.

New Zealand and Australia still get loads of British and Irish today and that link is there but the British find Americans a bit weird and different.
