When you had sex ed for the first time in school, did they separate boys and girls?

I had sex ed for the first time in 5th grade, and they separated boys and girls into separate rooms, boys with a male teacher, girls with a female teacher.

We have another sex ed class at the end of 7th grade, and apparently they don't separate boys and girls for that one.

It was a Christian school so I think it was a little later than other schools. I think I was 12 but some people would've been 11.

I never had any sex ed at any grade in school (1936-1948). The nearest approach to it (not close at all) was when Mr. Strong (sic) our boys' gym teacher in 7th grade told me "You need to wear an athletic supporter", right in front of the other boys ! I was both embarrassed and proud.

Athletic supporter= jockstrap. Of course, Mr. Strong didn't explain WHY we well-endowed studs needed to support our "private parts." He probably thought that would come too close to discussing what they are for.

I was raised in the care system so I didn't get any. Everything I know today is either through personal experience or reading. Normally teenagers here get it (and I believe that it's actually compulsory today).
