Stones or Zeppelin?

assuming the Beatles has been the most important pop band ever, who takes the second position behind them? Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin?
If you ask my opinion the Stones were more important conceptually and lyrically but strictly musically speaking the Zeppelin had more influence over the years.

Led Zeppelin had more influence over the years because their music and flouritures is most adecuate to copycat it. Rolling Stones are a most genuine band, there's something magic and unique around them, starting for Mick Jagger: try to imitate Mick can only draw to the most absolute ridicule, although, it's worth to mention than back in 70-80 RS -before the 80 (mainly mediocre) hegemony of Heavy and Hard Rock in Rock music scene- influenced maybe more bands than LD: at least at Spanish scene (Spain, Argentine...) they had remarkable influence.

But, of course, LD is a fantastic band, with more roots on European ancient cultures, of course also mixtured with AfricanAmerican rythms.

More difficult it's for me to tell nice words on Beatles, maybe, well, surely, because of the big long prick at their front.

I'm not a fan of either, but I'd say that the Stones are the "better" band. I don't really understand the Led Zeppelin hype. They score points for experimentation though, and there's a few songs I'll always love. Although, what rock band doesn't have the RS as an influence? Bands like Aerosmith and Guns N' Roses for example are just RS repackaged.

I think this is more or less on the money. People who are in bands themselves will almost always say they prefer Zeppelin to the Stones.

I'm not a huge fan of either btw, for me the second most influential band after the Beatles (whom I cannot stand) are:

Though I prefer Black Sabbath over Led Zeppelin and I think The Beatles is crap.

Nowadays the Stones although I preferred Led Zeppelin when I was younger. Honestly though I haven´t been listening to either one of them too much lately. The Beatles are boring. Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys alone owns both Lennon and McCartney.
