I was wondering what afghan jews are like genetically? Are they genetically related to other afghans populations or close to semites? They certainly look more like semites. In fact, they look pretty ashkenazi or sefardic to me

The last remaining afghan jew has a last name ending in "ov," which sounds slavic.

based on those pictures, they look like your stereotypical Newyorker jews to me. Jews came to the subcontinent as traders, maybe they made their way to Afghanistan somehow.

They do. They look no different than ashkenazis and sefardic to me. But apparently they've been in Afghanistan since 2500 years ago. They clearly have a Levantine origin, but they probably mixed with the local population.

It is interesting how this guy in generally non-Jewish (small, probably concave nose, very massive jaw, short upper face, narrow eyes) but I see clearly Jewishness in him, as probably most forumers.
Is it only curly black hair? But he could be Greek, Levantine, North African also.
But no, everybody will say he is Jew Why?

With the exception of Yemeni and Ethiopian Jews, Jewish people are a middle eastern race or ethnic group, and they are completely different from European peoples, both racially and genetically. Yes, Jews do have a certain look with minority of them looking like Europeans.

They don't look like 100% pure Levantines at all. They look more like ashkenazis and sefardic. So obviously, they mixed with someone.
