No. They should embrace their ancient philosophy, Christianity and ancient polytheism in combination with traditional family values, reject overblown welfare and reject the EU. Actually, they should have done that before joining the Eurozone. Now, it's too late to fix without going through intense pain first.

Greece will always be on the edge of disaster while it strives to enjoy the standard of living of northern European powerhouses. It simply lacks the economic fundamentals (land, resources, etc.) to achieve great prosperity in its own right in the modern era. The current disaster is essentially the result of that inconvenient truth. There's nothing anyone can do about that.

The only sustainable target for Greece is something slower, less wealthy and more backward than the North, more like its Balkan neighbours, with a heavy reliance on tourism as a cheap destination for visitors from wealthier nations, with the remainder of productivity coming chiefly from agriculture and perhaps through providing low cost manufacturing/services sector outsourcing options for the North. Anything else is going to require large amounts of bad debt and will collapse into a steaming pile of shit.

I'm sorry Greece, but that's just the way it is. You had your time on top of the world and Western civilisation is forever in your debt, but now you are a follower, not a leader - and don't try to follow the leaders too closely, because you simply can't afford it.
