Not everywhere but it arrived in North Italy with migrations in the most urbanized areas of North Italy like Milan or Turin. It has no control over the territory as instead it happens in their strongholds in southern Italy, and to be fair in many areas of southern Italy is not present and does not exist. Anyway in recent years there's utmost attention, especially on the part of the judiciary and the police force. There have been many arrests and many investigations. In northern Italy organized crime seeks above all to win a tender, especially public contracts. Then clearly being the Italian Stock Exchange is in Milan, there is also the financial level of those seeking to launder money. But you know this happens on all European markets and involves all international mafias.

So yea, mafia crime syndicates seem to be a Southern Italian thing.. though I am sure there are plenty of other forms of organized crime in the North.
Indeed. In Milan there are a lot of Southern American gangs, especially from El Salvador. I'm serious, I'm not joking.

Several incorruptible judges were killed by the Sicilian Mafia, Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino are probably the most notorious cases. Also what's cool and honourable about murdering, threatening and hurting honest magistrates and their relatives? One has to have a very twisted sub-human mind to think "it's cool" and mafia bosses "honourable" instead of bloody psychopats.

I like Joe Pesci, he's cool and despite being 4 feet tall and completely out of shape, he manages to beat up strangers on the street in all of his gangster roles.

    Really pathetic.

I honestly do not think, the Neapolitan Camorra has much less power than what is thought in the city of Naples, Naples than the rest of the south really has many but many more "mavericks" and this is an indication of less control over the territory, in fact many kids in different districts of Naples have ousted various clans, the Camorra is buffoonish and is made up more of street gang stars than real mafia, if you really want to see what the mafia is in my opinion you have to go to Calabria, the Ndrangheta, very secret codes, rituals that resemble those of the Masonic lodges, many of which dating back to Magna Graecia, families linked by blood, in fact, repentance is much lower in the Ndrangheta than in the Camorra (who would betray their relatives?) really scary, because it is much more like a lodge with very specific rules, even if it looks much more like an esoteric sect than a criminal organization, it is much more bloody and creates a criminal culture in symbiosis with the history of the territory, and above all it is difficult to become part of it, unlike the Neapolitan one, there was a sentence that said, there are two ways to enter the Ndrangheta, or for the blood that you runs in the veins (Ndrangheta family) or because of the blood you runs in the streets (murders of important people)

The autochthonous mafia actually existed also in Milan, it was called Ligera, before the southern emigration and the various southern mafias that took control of the city, all this makes me think that originally it was a sort of organization with which the Spanish rulers calmed the revolts in the various Italian cities under their control, just think that the Milanese counterpart of the definition of the Neapolitan Guappo was Loch Milanese (both terms of Spanish origin) also the various founding myths seem to confirm this origin, another detail that confirms this origin is that the first mafia born in Southern Italy is the Neapolitan Camorra, a place where the greatest revolts were feared, the mafia has always been the guard dog of pre-established power

The Italian Mafia is like a pimple on a horse's ass compared to the Russian Mafia now here in New York
