Mafia's are not cool, but their image is certainly pretty cool. All criminal life tends to be glorified and I guess that's due to some biological instinct where "rebels" and "warriors" are seen in a different light from the "conformists".

They aren't glorified in Italy, except in the poorest suburbs from which the Mafia takes the new recruits. But this happens anywhere in the world with criminal organizations I guess.

The real Mafia is cool,they are just businessmen doing business on the other side of the law,the bosses are usually honorable,with rich culture,people with class and good taste in many things
However there's a lot of petty groups out there that think they are the Mafia,but they are just ghetto thugs who have been watching too much Godfather.Guys that rob currency exchange joints and sell jacked cars.
