Mother side:
Greatgrandpa from maternal side fought for Yugoslav Partizans ( I don't know which division)
Spoiler!
His brother was fought for Chetnik Dinara Division ( brother against brother, dat's WW2 in Yugoslavia )
Dat's what I know from mother side.
From father side, all ancestors was been part of Chetnik units
What I know about them: Actually, not soo much, cause in Tito Yugoslavia it was been taboo theme, cause region what they coming from was always been anti-communist.
They was been part of Montenegrin Volunteer Corps
They cooperated with Italian Fascist forces against communists, croat/bosniak/albanian SS divisions in southeastern Bosnia/northern Montenegro.
Using 2 populations approximation:

My great-grandfather. Son of Italian immigrants, he had the option to move back to Italy and fight for them, but he stayed here and fought for the US. Served in France, Holland, and Germany. Helped liberate the French city of Metz, and earned a purple heart. He also looted a luger at some point.
I have other relatives who served including his brother, but they are not direct ancestors.

I know that 2 of my ancestors fought in WW2. Don't know anything about the rest. Maternal grandfather was injured in Sevastopol. Paternal great-grandfather was killed in the war. They were born in the same year and fought for the Axis.
