Americans disagree on most things, trying to create 'Difference' of opinion. Americans want to become "unique" to express independence.
But the shared ideals revolve around "Freedom" and liberty in the sense of opportunity. For example most Americans believe, and value that you can become successful if you want to, not based on race or gender. That a white man has just as much "opportunity" for success as a black woman. However this idea immediately falls into US politicking and "culture wars". For example most people in the US argue about who is the biggest "victim" and who are the "oppressors". So although there is debate about opportunity, so too is there debate about potential.
In the US it's called "gender politicking" and race-warring.
But US does have people from across the world. So everybody has different opinions and proposals for solutions. People focus on democracy as a means to solve these problems: whomever has the biggest population and organization (coordinated voting) "wins" in the USA. This is how America becomes "pop culture" as everything is based on popularity, not necessarily on what is right or true.
