Default Most important region of Europe

As it says in the title. Which, according to this map, is the most important region of Europe? I'm not asking about the economy, their global power, or their standard of living. I'm asking which region has the most historical importance to the creation of Europe and its civilization.

Of course it is Southern Europe. The Northerners, Easterners, and Central Europeans just free-loaded off of the achievements of the South.

    This is the main reason.

Western Civilization is based off of Greco-Roman Civilization. Most languages in Europe use either the Latin Script from the Romans, or the Cyrillic Script from the Byzantines. The Renaissance started in Italy. Generally, the Germanics, Celtics and Slavs did not have much influence in the creation of the basis of Western Civilization.

Every countries at a moment of their history play a role on the creation of europe and it's civilisation. I don't think that's really possible to determine who had give more than the other.

I will just put the nordic countries on the last position. Historically they might bring less amelioration.

    I agree, of course.

The Nordic Nations seemed to just assimilate themselves into Greco-Roman civilization. However, France on the other hand, has contributed quite a bit to Greco-Roman Civilization. I think that it is due to France being heavily latinized.

Western civilization is based off of the Industrial Revolution. Language has nothing to do with civilization. Technology is the backbone of civilization. The majority of the inhabitants of "Greco-Roman civilization" had no idea what the ancient Greek and Roman empires were, up until the Industrial Revolution, which made public education possible. Much of what the public knows today about "Greco-Roman civilization" was brought to us by the English.

Now, take a look at your map and tell me which part of Europe created the Industrial Revolution.

Language has nothing to do with civilization? Are you being serious?

Also, how is Western Civilization based off of the Industrial Revolution? Was there no "Western Civilization" before the 19th century? What about the Greek Philosophers? The Italian Renaissance? The Papacy?

C'mon. We all know that before the Romans civilized the Northern reaches of Europe, those barbarians had no concept of proper civilization.

Central european stop the ottomans. Eastern one liberate the balkan and part of south europe.
It was a necessary step for the European civilization. So you can't only focus on Latin people.

Yes, the Central and Eastern Europeans stopped the Islamic advance, in order to protect Latin Civilization.

But but the Indo European languages came from near the "Nordic" area.
