It depends on each person, some Russians are emotional and others not. When I was travelling in ferryboat from Saint Petersburg to Oslo, I saw a lot of drunken Finns, who behaved like a pigs there. Also in one of Finnish sea ports, I saw Finns who were so drunk that they couldn't get up and were floating on rafts in such state. I don't think that all Finns are drunkards. However, they have such fame in Saint Petersburg.

So I'd guess you have a point. Russians are much more human, less robotic.

To be in control of your emotions in my culture is part of growing up to be a man. An autistic rage (and I'm talking here about genuine autistic, the real thing) does not really signal high emotional intelligence. Just like extraversion does not signal emotional intelligence.

They are noisy and chaotic. They do that kiss on the cheek thing. When they get rich they like to show it off, with lot of bling: fancy clothes, jewelry, cars and mansions. They tend to be more on the extroverted side.

It seems that the title of your thread should had been : Is Russian culture Balkan? instead Southern.

The story of the Sampo, the magical object that produces riches, from a Finnish-Soviet movie from 1959 (=BASICALLY THE FIRST PART OF THE MOVIE, with some abbreviations). The story is based on the Finnish national epic, The Kalevala, that was used as an inspiration for J. R. R. Tolkien among others.

Notice that almost all the characters have some sort of magic or act as shamans. And unlike the women in The Lord of the Rings, the women of the Kalevala also have very strong personality, like Louhi, the sorceress of the Pohyola ('The North-Country'). Pohyola may be thought of as a real place in the north or as a world in a totally different reality.

The dialoge is on meter, like in the Kalevala, but the ENGLISH TRANSLATION is a shortened prose version.

That is a long tradition here, when Russians came (they came at steady intervals), the women were always hid n the deepest woods. You can see this in WWII too, we had very extensive evacuation plans, which we of course didn't even need because you were stopped at the Isthmus.

Quite typical. Spend life pretending to be some squareish type, repress tension and release it in as dramatic way as possible once alcohol comes one's way. Explains the amount of Finns heading for Tallinn every weekend to stock as much booze and cigs as they can. Have to be able to get some psychotropics going in order to withstand the mind-numbing week where one will drink coffee, stare at a screen, speak like an automaton and never say hello to the fellow slave walking next to you.
