He is not my favorite Music artist, but he is one of the few if the not the only who enchants me just by the sound, the skill and the power of his guitar.

Like his band the Jimi Hendrix Experience had nothing in special in exception of Jimi Hendrix. And his guitar sound mad any JHE song a good song, and some of them are indeed hymns of Rock.

This is arguably one of the best guitar songs of all time. Obligatory top 5, IMO.



And there are a few more songs that come to your mind that are in a slight bellow level, like Hey Joe, Purple Haze, Little Wing, Voodoo Child, Foxey Lady......

IMO only Van Halen and Zappa could possibly be a bit better but it is hard to call.

Hendrix was made a legend in the late 60's, just like Eric Clapton at the same time, both invented new ways of playing the guitar, but they weren't that great, within six months everyone was able to replicate the way they sounded, provided they had a big Marshall stack behind.

People like Jimmy Page, Dave Gilmour or George Harrison were certainly much superior, let alone Mark Knopfler.

The real absolutely great guitar players are in jazz (don't misunterstand me, I don't like jazz music): Django Rheinhardt (yep, a Gipsy), Wes Montgomery (a Nigger), Joe Pass (a Wop), John McLaughlin... I'm not a fan about their music but I'm aware it would take a life or more just to replicate the way they're playing.
