There is a lot of contradictory information on the internet about whether or not Russians are Finno-Ugric or Slavic. Of course it is never black and white, there are always different admixtures among various regions.
This study suggests that Russians are mostly Finnic and do not cluster at all with Belarusians, Ukrainians or Poles: http://www.gumilev-center.ru/lico-ru...nacionalnosti/
However information on this study suggests that they also have a heavy Slavic component and do cluster with Belarusians, Ukrainians and Poles: http://www.khazaria.com/genetics/russians.html
Apparently haplogroup N only reaches 23% in Russia. It is concentrated in the North West but also in other regions. The largest haplogroup is R1a.
Why does one article say Russians are overwhelmingly Finno-Ugric and another says they are heavily Slavic? Where is the truth?
