Seeing as most white Americans are mostly of British and Irish descent I'm not seeing much deviation, and there's still only an inch difference between the US and Sweden. Not to mention "non-Hispanic white" still includes non-Europeans.

Immigration and possibly also diet, the same thing has happened in Australia. I am a short 175cm but the national average is 175.6cm. The average Anglo Australian height is for sure much much taller than me, about 180cm or so, probably Asian and Indian immigrants have brought down the average.
