Well it's true that modern day Portugal never held Galicia as territory but during the roman era, North Portugal and Galicia were at one time one single province named Gallaecia. I believe also that majority still speak galician even though Castilian is the dominant language but galician is believed to be mutually intelligible with Portuguese. Although it sounds to me more like a Castilian person speaking Portuguese while saying a few Castilian words in between their sentences.
