Initially they were seen with suspection, there was some "Anti-Brazilian" immigration feeling among the Portuguese in the 2007-2011 period where there were a lot of violent assaults to Banks and other instituitions in Lisbon commited by Brazilian Immigrants.
Most Brazilians in Portugal are mixed race from poorest Regions of the country, most are hard workers I would say. There was a survey in 2012 that indicated 70% of the Portuguese associated the presence of Brazilian immigrants with Criminal activities. The Brazilian woman along side with the Ukrainian/Moldovan/Romanian ones are associated with Prostitution and the Brazilian man along side the SSA ones are associated with Robberies and violent crime.
The Brazilian immigration is becoming lower and lower and the number of Brazilians here as decreased since the Economic crash of 2008.
