Default Hilarious: somali lone wolf “I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be”

Abdul Razak Artan, the Ohio State University jihad attacker, recently appeared in Ohio State University’s The Lantern, in a feature entitled “Humans of Ohio State.” In it, he played the victim and spoke about being nervous about performing his Islamic prayers in public:

    https://issuu.com/thelantern/docs/082516

“I just transferred from Columbus State. We had prayer rooms, like actual rooms where we could go to pray because we Muslims have to pray five times a day. There’s Fajr, which is early in the morning, at dawn. Then Zuhr during the daytime, then Asr in the evening, like right about now. And then Maghrib, which is like right at sunset and then Isha at night. I wanted to pray Asr. I mean, I’m new here. This is my first day. This place is huge, and I don’t even know where to pray. I wanted to pray in the open, but I was kind of scared with everything going on in the media. I’m a Muslim, it’s not what the media portrays me to be. If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen. But, I don’t blame them, it’s the media that put that picture in their heads so they’re just going to have it and it, it’s going to make them feel uncomfortable. I was kind of scared right now. But I just did it. I relied on God. I went over to the corner and just prayed.”

    But then something happened :

Artan wrote on what appears to be his Facebook page that he had reached a "boiling point," made a reference to "lone wolf attacks" and cited radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki

Two hours before that, a post appeared, saying: "Forgive and forget. Love.

Two hours before that, a post appeared, saying: "Forgive and forget. Love.
    and at the end :

Abdul Razak Ali Artan drove a car into a crowd of people, then got out and stabbed several more before he was shot and killed by campus police.
Eleven victims were taken to three Columbus hospitals. Most had been hurt by the car, and two had been stabbed, officials said. One had a fractured skull.

Several prayer vigils were held Monday night to support the victims and the community. (like that is going to stop terrorists lol)

Rep. Adam Schiff, of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said the act bore the hallmarks of an attack carried out by someone who may have been self-radicalized.

The Islamic State group has urged sympathizers online to carry out lone-wolf attacks in their home countries with whatever weapons are available to them.
Artan was not known to the FBI prior to Monday's attack, according to a law enforcement official who was not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Neighbors said he was always polite and attended daily prayer services at a mosque on the city's west side.
Leaders of Muslim organizations and mosques in the Columbus area condemned the attacks while cautioning people against jumping to conclusions or blaming a religion or an ethnicity.

What a dumb ass. Is upset at how people supposedly may be looking at him when he's praying in the direction of Mecca but then justifies any apprehensions people may have about Muslims by doing exactly what they worry about. It would be hilarious if people weren't harmed.

The main issue with racial and religious minorities in the US is what they assume other people are thinking. They build an entire fantasy over what people might be thinking. All it does is limit them. If no one is hassling you or limiting your opportunities because of your race, ethnicity, or religious beliefs, then it's not a problem. People's thoughts only matter when they act on those thoughts.

i don't think he was radicalized when he talked about how he hated feeling discriminated .. he was clearly against terrorism at the time and some terrorists happen to chenge their ideas quickly . although i am sure it is not the fault of any college students, people in university are rarely racist ... he might have turned a bit paranoid for the media.

his feeling like an outcast might also have played a role in his radicalization.

i am not islamopghobic and i would agree with a policy that limits the entry of people from muslim countries. it's a good thing for the american muslim population if you think about it... the more these attacks increase the more the muslim population would be discriminated and at danger... i am afraid for the muslims in western europe .. in case attacks become frequent there would be a possibility of a series of hate crimes made by people of the extreme right.. (a bit like what's happening to some sunni at the hands of shias in iraq)

I think he went to a radical Mosque near OSU. Others that attended there have been arrested for assisting ISIS. 3 younger students, and another who was an Al Queda supporter. One got got a 20 year prison sentence.
