And I personally think Averrhoës had little choice in that respect but to give his endorsement. If you read his works you realize that he is straying too far from Islam as it is so he has already drawn some attention to him. He may not have been for it after all but simply endorsed it to save his own neck in the long run.

How cares than he wants to save his own neck? Just because he commented on some texts of Aristotle, he's a good guy? I think some people have too much respect for this muslim. He commented on Greek texts, he did not write it!
