Often Koreans,Chinese and Japanese are talked about but Mongolians never

Because after glorious days of Mongol Empire, Mongols became an unimportant ethnic group in the world. Why should people talk about Mongolia and Mongolians? What is so special about modern Mongolians?

That's true. Nothing but for some odd reason they are never included as East Asians

When discussing history, they are always brought up. What's so special about Mongolia in 2016 though that we should be talking about? Its a poor country with a low population and not much going on. China, Japan, and Korea are vastly different in that regard.

They are closer to Kazakhs and Kyrgyz than to Chinese, Korean, and Japanese people.
